We built our gym while our son was a cadet at the United States Military Academy at West Point. His favorite place there was Arvin Gym—a place associated with effort, consistency, and the shared discipline of training.
A name that arrived naturally
Whenever he came home, he and his buddies naturally spent much of their time training here. The building became more than a room full of equipment; it became a place where people reconnected through the work.
Calling it Arvin South felt natural. The name honors an important chapter in our son’s life while describing what this place became for our family: our own southern counterpart, personal and close to home.
The sign made it permanent
The steel sign on the wall gave the gym a visual identity, but the meaning was already there. Arvin South is still private, still personal, and still centered on the family and friends who helped give the room its character.
